What does my automatic transmission need?

My 1999 Jeep Wrangler with the 4.0 engine has an automatic transmission. It only has 78000 miles. When cold it pauses a few moments after it is put in gear. If I give it gas it will jump into gear. It does not do this hardly at all after it warms up from running it a while. Do you think a filter and fluid change will solve this problem. It has never been driven rough and only put in 4 wheel drive a few times.|||Fluid and filter change is worth a try. You have a 50/50 chance that it will solve the problem. And it's the cheapest way to go.|||first of all check the fluid level....what you are describing is common when the fluid level is low.......if the level is good you can try replacing the filter and fluid......changing thefilter should be done every 30,000 miles....also you should stop by a jiffylube or the like to get a fluid flush this is a mor complete fluid change.......if all that fails then you probably have a tranny pump failing!!!|||yes i would deffinately get a fluid change if you haven't since you got the car. you should have it changed once every year to year and a half just as basic maintinance.|||yes for sure a filter/fluid change would be beneficial for your jeep
