What is the car part that the transmission cable attaches to which connects to the transmission called?

I have a 1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88 that the transmission cable (from the steering column) keeps slipping off the transmission end of the cable. I need to replace the rubber part the cable attaches to, but don't know what it is called.|||you have to replace the whole cable in most cases as this grommet is rarely serviced separately, they usually aren't that expensive though.|||Could it be that you're referring to the speedometer cable?|||Are you thinking of the shift cable?
