What are some signs that my automatic transmission is going bad?

Hello, I have an automatic 1999 Camaro with 104,000 miles on it. Everything seems fine with the transmission and engine right now.

What are some signs that I should look for in the future that my transmission is going bad. Subtle ones that will get worse over time...|||Definite signs would be leaking of transmission fluid, burning smells or if you change the fluid the color is a burnt orange color, whining noises when in any specific gear, if an automatic - constant changing of gears when going constant speeds on flat surfaces, lack of shifting in or out of gears.

Those are some pretty tell-tell signs there is a transmission problem. Heat is a huge challenge to a transmission, if at all possible change your transmission fluid at intervals listed in your owner's manual and I also would suggest using the fluid recommended in that manual.

I hope this helps! 100M miles on a modern car transmission should not give much issue, but if your manual recommends service - it's better to be safe than sorry. Following their recommendations could save you a few thousand dollars.|||1]the gears take longer to engage.

2]when driving it feels as if the gears are slipping right before entering a new a gear.

3] if you have change the trans oil in a while dont ever change it in life again cause the old oil has more body which takes up the wear in the clutches and if the oil is changed less body more wear and hence it'll start to give trouble.

4] when yr car is all fine dont think about those things you might hurt the car feelings and it might give trouble ( i no)|||Keep an eye on the fluid levels. Cheap insurance would be to change eng. and tranny. oil%26amp;filters if keeping the car.|||slipping, not changing gears .|||when there is smoke pilling out of it
