What parts of the transmission must be undone to replace pump assembly and valve body?

I took my car to one mechanic who says he replaced the pump assempbly and valve body on my Camry's transmission. However, the Toyota dealer says that it does not appear the transmission has been out of the car or that the transmission pan has been removed. Did I get hosed by the first guy? Would a second mechanic be able to tell, by looking, that the transmission and/or transmission pan had not been removed within the last month?|||He should be able to. If he has done work on quite a few Camry's, he'll probably notice if any wires, hoses or lines have been re-routed from the original spots, since, even though we try, most of us mechanics will not put them all back...our rebellion against the engineers. He'll also be able to tell if the transmission is at least clean on top...'cause the original guy should have done a good job of cleaning it, to make sure it isn't leaking once it is running. I have a feeling you got shafted.|||Most Likely he can tell but looking for new gaskets and marks from tools on the bolts. You most likely were hosed.....sorry|||you have to take the trans out of the car to replace the pump
