What's the difference between used transmission and rebuilt transmission?

I need to know is it better to buy a used transmission from junkyard or to buy rebuilt one?

Also which one is cheaper?

I'm talking about transmissions in general, not for a specific make.|||used is just that been in the car for whatever number of miles and then taken to the junkyard.

rebuilt means just that it has new internals replaced in an old case the tranny is rebuilt and tested by a re-manufacturer

used is cheaper with little or no warranty (30 days)

rebuilt have a warranty (1 year / lifetime)|||Your best way to go would be a rebuilt transmission as it would have new parts and be reliable. A used transmission could be worn almost to the point of failure. A rebuilt one would cost more but would be cheaper in the long run than having a used one fail and having to get another one.
