Last month, I had to get my transmission replaced for my 1992 Saturn automatic. My mechanic told me that it would take about 1,000 miles for my new transmission to fully break in. I have been driving it for over a month and every now and then it shifts from 1st to 2nd harshly, usually in the morning when the engine is cold. Is this normal? Will it take 1,000 miles for it to break in?|||If you bought a brand new car from the factory and it did this, would you just accept it, I doubt it.
Transmission don't need to "break in".
I don't know how you will tell the mechanic that but that's up to you, but I would definitely take it back and tell him to figure out what is wrong.|||This is likely to be an adjustment he can perform.
Take it back - don't call - take it back and if need be - make an appointment for him to correct the problem.
