Is a transmission fluid change on a car the same as a transmission flush?

I hear a transmission flush can kill your transmission/engine when your fluids are dark and burnt with specks.|||A fluid change is NOT the same as a flush.. with a flush it gets all the old oil out of the lines, cooler,Valve body and off all the other moving parts while putting the new oil in. and yes in some cases a flush can be a bad thing. the oil in a tranny gets thick over time and sometimes its what keeps things together. the thicker oil can "fill" in gaps and voids from expansion of the clutch rings and plates.so if your vehicle has alot of miles I wouldent recmond it. expecialy if its a chrysler tranny.|||They are not the same number one a transmission flush they suck out the fluid and install new fluid.

They actually force the fluid in and try to flush the system out.

A transmission fluid and filter change they remove the transmission pan and drain the fluid and remove the old filter and replace with new fluid and gasket.

II can tell you this my brother has a truck they done a flush on before he left to go on a long trip half way there his transmission overheated and it had to be towed to a transmission shop.

What they found was that when they flushed the transmission it actually clogged the filter and it was not flowing properly. He was towing a camper but never the less he does not do this flush anymore he just takes it to a shop and has it done right.

Let them change the filter and the fluid and replace it the way it should be.

Usually Tranny fluid doesn't need to be changed for like 100,000 miles on some cars but I replace it on my truck every 40,000 anyway. With a filter change and have them run a tranny check but I do pull a large camper and two heavy loads too.

Hope this has helped|||A fluid change is just that, a fluid change. A transmission flush is when they hook your car up to a flushing machine and get all of the old transmission fluid out of the trans. and install a new fluid.|||A flush just pushes more transmission fluid through to remove loose debris and clean out all the old fluid. Anything it washes out was already broken or loose.
